As global citizens, students need to have a working knowledge of other countries which are important in shaping the corporate, social and political world. As a rising state in the world economy, Brazil's status in the business and in world affairs is shifting in a transformative way. After an overview of its recent political history, this course will provide an introduction to Brazil in three dimensions: its diverse groups of people, the growth and development of the Brazilian economy and the environmental opportunities and challenges in modern Brazil.

Students in any department, pursuing any major are welcome to register for this course for 1 credit: The Pitt course numbers are: BUS 1920 Brazil Today CLN 37714 (undergraduates) and BIND 2889 Brazil Today CLN 37679 (graduates). Seminar continues on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1.
